Master Teaching Artists

Master Teaching Artists (MTAs) are deemed by the AES qualified to train, and in collaboration with another MTA, certify those candidates meeting the AES certification standards. Experienced teachers interested in training and certifying others through the American Eurhythmics Society are invited to apply to become Master Teaching Artists. Experienced teachers interested in training and certifying others through the American Eurhythmics Society (AES) are invited to apply to become Master Teaching Artists (MTA). Successful candidates will show evidence of the following: 

  1. Dalcroze Eurhythmics certification through the AES or the Dalcroze Society of America
  2. A minimum of three workshops, post- Dalcroze Eurhythmics certification, presented to professional audiences
  3. Minimum Education- Bachelor degree in music
  4. Current membership in the AES
  5. Effective teaching of eurhythmics to adults and children, which includes piano improvisation
  6. Effective teaching of rhythmic solfège to adults and children

Items to be submitted electronically to the AES Board:

  1. Brief letter of application
  2. Curriculum Vitae
  3. Two letters of recommendation (from two different MTAs at two different summer training centers)
  4. Two separate 20-30 minute teaching videos
  • Video Requirements:
  • • MTA applicants will submit two separate 20-30 minute teaching videos
  • • One eurhythmics lesson that includes piano improvisations
  • • One rhythmic solfège lesson
  • • Choose one of the recorded lessons to take place at a summer training center that will represents an intermediate/advanced level of teaching material
  • • Choose one of the recorded lessons to take play with children
  • • Both lessons must demonstrate effective teaching of eurhythmics or solfège, including demonstrated synthesis/simultaneity of piano improvisation and movement
  • Apprenticeship Program:
  • MTA candidates must participate in an Apprenticeship Program where they attend two different AES summer training centers post-AES certification. They will teach multiple sessions at both summer training centers where they can receive feedback and mentorship from MTAs.

  • MTA Candidate Submission Process:
  • Please place all required documents in a OneDrive or Google Drive Folder titled YourFullName_MTA Candidate_Year and send to AmericanEurhythmics@gmail.com. In your email to AmericanEurhythmics@gmail.com please include your intent to submit your requirements for AES MTA status. The current AES president will be in contact soon about your submission and review process.

  • Video Submissions:
  • Option 1: Videos may be uploaded to YouTube and saved as a unlisted. If videos need to be set to private listing for security reasons please be prepared to at the three MTA review committee. 
  • • Option 2: Videos may be linked in the GoogleDrive or OneDrive folder.

  • Review Process for MTA applicants:
  • Three Master Teaching Artists will review the teaching video and other materials. MTA status is granted by majority rule of three MTAs from three different training centers. MTA applicants must complete ALL requirements and submit ALL documents listed above to be eligible for the MTA committee of three to review MTA applications.
